What is orange peel powder?
Orange peel powder is the dried outer rind of Citrus aurantium, milled to a fine grain. In an Indian face pack it does two jobs in particular. First, its texture works as a gentle physical exfoliant. Second, it absorbs surface oil. Besides that, the jar holds the peel alone, with no preservatives, colours or fragrance added.

Why we do not sell this on its vitamin C
Almost every orange peel powder listing in India leads with vitamin C. Moreover, many quote a multiple such as ten times the fruit. Yet we have taken that claim off this page, and here is the reason.
To start with, vitamin C degrades with heat, light and oxygen. Therefore drying peel in the sun, then milling and storing it, removes most of what was there to begin with. Consequently a dried powder is not a meaningful vitamin C product, however good the fresh peel was. In other words, anyone quoting a precise multiple for a dried powder is quoting a figure for fresh peel and hoping you do not notice.
Instead, what survives drying is the peel’s flavonoid content, its mild astringency, and above all its physical texture. Indeed, that texture is the actual reason this works in a face pack. We would rather tell you that than sell you a vitamin number.
What does orange peel powder actually do?
Four things, all of them cosmetic and all of them on the surface of the skin.
Gentle physical exfoliation
To begin with, the milled grain lifts dull, loose surface cells. Consequently skin looks fresher and reflects light better, which is what people mean by glow.
Absorbs surface oil
Dried peel is thirsty. So on an oily T zone it mops up excess sebum, so the finish after rinsing feels matte rather than slick.
Helps loosen blackheads
Meanwhile, gentle mechanical action over the nose and chin loosens the plugs that sit in open pores. However, it works gradually rather than in one wash.
Evens out a dull look
Regular exfoliation makes tone look more even. That is because you remove the uneven dead layer rather than change your skin colour.
Three face packs, and which skin each suits
In short, use it two or three times a week at most. Above all, do not scrub hard, since the grain does the work for you.

Above all, mix a fresh batch each time. Because there are no preservatives in the jar, a pre mixed paste will not keep.
Citrus on skin, then sunlight: what to know
This point rarely appears on Indian orange peel listings, yet it matters more than any benefit on this page. First, citrus peel contains furocoumarins. When those compounds sit on skin and that skin then meets UVA light, some people develop a delayed burn or blistering reaction called phytophotodermatitis. Notably, it appears a day or two later rather than immediately.
Fortunately, dried and milled peel carries far less of these compounds than fresh juice or expressed peel oil, so the risk here is low. Nevertheless, three habits remove it almost entirely.

Safety and precautions
- Patch test behind the ear or on the inner forearm 24 hours before the first full application.
- For external use only. Do not eat the powder.
- Keep it out of the eyes and lips. Rinse with plenty of water if any gets in.
- Never scrub hard. Let the grain do the work, because pressure causes micro tears.
- Do not use it on broken skin, active inflamed acne, sunburn, or immediately after waxing or threading.
- Limit use to two or three times a week. Over exfoliating leaves skin red, tight and more sensitive, not brighter.
- Rinse fully and follow the sun advice above.
- Stop using it if stinging, redness or persistent dryness appears.
- Keep out of reach of children.

Using it
Two to three times a week is the sensible ceiling, since it works as a physical exfoliant. Besides, daily use strips the skin barrier, and the result is redness and tightness rather than glow.
In general, rose water suits oily skin. Meanwhile, honey and curd suit dry skin, since both offset the drying effect. Finally, sandalwood powder and water suit congested patches on the nose and chin. Always mix a fresh batch, because the jar contains no preservatives.
At one tablespoon per pack and two packs a week, a 100 g jar lasts about two months. Therefore the 250 g size works out cheaper if this is already part of your routine.
Skin and safety
It can be, although you should start carefully. First, patch test behind the ear. Then begin with one use a week, mixed into curd or honey rather than water. Naturally, stop if stinging or lasting redness appears.
The risk with a dried powder is low, since drying removes most of the furocoumarins responsible. Even so, rinse thoroughly, prefer an evening pack, and wear SPF 30 or higher the next morning. Freshly exfoliated skin is more sun sensitive anyway.
Definitely not. This jar is milled and packed for external cosmetic use, and the label says external use only. Please do not add it to food or drinks.
Claims and expectations
No, and we do not sell it on that basis. Fairness of the skin appears in Schedule J of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, so no product sold in India may claim it. What exfoliation genuinely does is remove the dull surface layer, which makes tone look more even and skin look brighter. However, your natural colour does not change.
Certainly, exfoliation can soften the look of surface dullness over weeks. However, pigmentation such as melasma or post acne marks sits deeper than a face pack reaches, so a dermatologist is the right route if those are your main concern.
We do not recommend it. After all, grainy exfoliants are awkward to rinse out of hair, and we make no claims about dandruff or hair fall. For scalp care, look at a product made for the job.
